Hello AF!
work has commenced on my other F50 few days ago. no, i'm not a build out-of-the-box modelor...so again it went under the knife. here's the progress so far...please give comments, good & bad welcome. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() the next step is to fill up all the holes you can see that ain't present in the real car. i must say the nose job is the most challenging feat, the rest are just straight forward cut & putty & sand thing. i don't know what will it look like after the complete putty process...will see about that later ok? so please ask or tell me anything if you feel like. it can only do good to my build for i'm just a novice doing some destruction jobs... cheers! marc SGP

Re: (bodywork 2) The other wilder [& rarer] F50
I suppose it's the F50 GT.
Great start. I would have done the front cover openings using putty, but your work is looking clean and very well done. |

but the more i look at the GT 'hump' pics, the more i find it so different from the F50. the 'nostril' from the GT is much bigger & rounder (if you know what i mean). also, by doing only putty cannot guarantee me accuracy too. i turned to styrene construction because i can control accurarcy here. using this method i can minimise my poor shaping skills as the styrene works laid down have provided me with some form of 'foundation', just fill up the remaining holes & sand a little etc... anyway, it's still in the early stages now...so no promises my mod method can work. someone has to take the plunge to try it differently, we'll see how it goes from here ok? will keep you posted. marc SGP

I like the curved styrene idea on the nostrils- it looks very even and consistent. Another good start. Got that engine lid glued down?

well, seems there's no other way i can turn the original concave nose into a convex looking one without using a curve styrene...there could be other ways to do it, let's see what the other AF builders can think of. actually this idea came from another AF F50 GT builder. i remember reading his mod on the nose somewhere....i somehow lost his thread. nope, this is a tamiya kit so i loved to show the engine details here. besides, i have enough engine pics to build upon...no guessing games here. say, do you know of any more F50 variants besides these 2 mods i'm on currently!? i still have 1 more tamiya F50 kit here, up for chops!!! cheers! marc SGP
