Kinda new to the Camaro world
Well as my friends over in the B.M.C. (Black Mustang Club) would say I have joined the Dark Side. I just traded my 83 Mustang with a 87 302 and a 302 out of a 68 Mustang for a 91 Camaro RS 3.1 with T-Tops and a 22' car trailer.
Kinda curious if there is anything I should expect form this car. I have been driving a 95 Z28 around this summer and I dont really like it. The car looses controll if there is even a small amount of dirt on the road. It rubs and scrapes the bottom everywhere, and I really hate all the plastic on it lol. I like good ole metal. The 91 needs some work and I am gonna miss my baby... Ive had that mustang for years and have alot into it but it has been sitting for 2 years in pieces. The camaro currently needs some floorboard work but nothing major from what I understand and the passanger side has a crase down it. ![]() http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...th_trailer.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ide_camaro.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1..._of_camaro.jpg Sorry if the images are too large I just formated my pc and dont have photoshop installed. I am kinda curious how hard it would be to drop in a 60s-70s SBC in there? Or maby a 80s-90s 305-350 If its too hard what would be a good place to start in upgrades for the 3.1? I might be able to put in $200-$300 soon and I was thinking either a Dynomax Super Turbo cat-back exhaust from summit or a Hypertech Street Runner Power Chip. What gains if any could I expect from those? I know it will be nowhere near my mustang or sound like it but change is good sometimes. EDIT.... Wow those are some big pics.... I didnt realise they were that large lol I will have to install photoshot asap Last edited by blindeyed; 07-30-2007 at 02:20 PM. |

Re: Kinda new to the Camaro world
Dynomax... meh... make sure what you're getting is what you want. I ordered a set of BBC headers for a 454, I wanted 2.25" primaries, guy tells me they only make one size... I get them and the primaries were 1.5". Idiots. Sent them back and got a set of Hookers with 2-1/8" primaries for $20 more.
Engine swap shouldn't be TERRIBLY difficult, provided you have / can get one for a decent price. One of the 3gen guys will help you out. Welcome to the forums. |

Re: Kinda new to the Camaro world
Sorry bout the pics guys. Was in a hurry to get out and wash the 95 Z28 in my driveway while it was still cool and forgot to remove the pics. When I remembered I couldnt find the thread lol
I will resize them tonight. Or better yet take better ones in a couple days when I get the car in my driveway next to this monster.

Re: Kinda new to the Camaro world
Go'n down tomorrow to pick it up.
Im gonna miss my mustang alot but the body is starting to show stress from too much power. The Fox just wasnt made to handle alot of power without mods and the guy who is gett'n it has some nice plans for it and an empty storage unit just for it. Alot better than it spending a maine winter outside in my driveway. Yes thats probably the fate of the camaro lol. Only reason I care bout the stang is sentimental value. All those years spent work'n on it with my dad and soon I will have those values with the camaro. |

Re: Kinda new to the Camaro world
Its a friends. He has been letting me drive it for the summer as he had back surgery and cant even get into it anymore. He also has it up for sale but I got no clue what he wants for it.
He says its got an interceptor chip in it and a rebuilt trans with shift kit but my dad and I think it migh have been camed. I dont really like it at all ... Fun to drive but man it has no traction on theese maine roads. I just hope my 91 will be better when I get a V8 in it. My 83 stang griped to no end. And a bit too new for me.... I dont like newer cars much. Dont really even like 80s cars lol or most 70s for that matter. I like my oldies |

Re: Kinda new to the Camaro world
your traction problem on your friends car is probably due to cheap tires and a bad suspension set-up

Re: Kinda new to the Camaro world
Best tires he could get at the shop here and stock suspension.
Well Im a bit pissed. The guy lied to bad it isnt funny. He had the car all loaded when we got there and we could not inspect it too well. He claimed it ran good .... claimed it had brakes .... claimed the Ts didnt leak .... claimed it was just a small hole in the drovers floor and claimed it had new tires.... Well lets see .... It has a fuel leak ... it will run but only for a few seconds and wont move .... it has NO brakes .... Ts leak ... and now that we managed to get it off the trailer and jacked up the small hole is big enough that the trans cossmember fell out and got jammed on the trailer while unloading it and my foot almost went thru the floor and the tires dont have much life left in them. Edit... I forgot to add if I didnt have a leg brace on my right leg due to 2 surgerys on it in the past 11 months my leg would ahve been all cut up as the crossmember almost came thru the floor and get my brace .... now theres a big dent/spike in the floor Also there is anti freeze coming out the tail pipe. .... Good fun ... I just traded a 1983 mustang that was in great shape it just needed an intake and paint for a car that im surprised didnt fall apart on the way home. If it wasnt 170+ miles there and about $100+ in gas I would take it back to him. Oh and the trailer had no brakes it ends up.... that was fun.... Guess im gonna see about the IROC down the road ... its been sitting there for years but i bets its in better shape Last edited by Cobra427; 08-01-2007 at 10:12 PM. |

Re: Kinda new to the Camaro world
Just went down and looked at the IROC....
Nobody was home but its in good shape by the looks. Its black with faded paint and stuff but the floors seemed pretty solid. It was locked so I dont know what year or engine but it did say tuned port injection on the side. |
