90 prelude dash lights/parking lights?

i have a 1990 prelude, one night i was driving, and i went to turn my dash lights down so they were not so bright. as i was doing that they went off... i then realized my parking lights had also gone out? not sure if they work together or whatever. if i turn my light switch half way on, so only the parking lights are supposed to be on, they all work, but when i switch it further so the headlights come on, all of my parking lights go out! anyone know why? the dash lights also work with only the parking lights on. we checked all the bulbs, all the fuses... im lost! thanks!

also, i get some pretty good fuel fumes in my car ( gas fumes) but only if i have my windows or sunroof open. when they are closed, i get none. there are no leaks that i am aware of, nothing is every under my car or anything? any common problems or experiences? thanks!

Could be a wiring problem. As for the fumes, no idea. Check to make sure you don't have exhaust leak, but that wouldn't really smell like gas. Take it to a shop somewhere and see if they'll let you put it on a lift so you can check the bottom of the car.
