Installing Aftermarket Radio?

Hey guys I'm trying to hook up a sony explod radio in a buddy of mines car and I'm wondering if it needs a bypass?

I cannot get this radio to turn on.

It's a 03 Chevy Malibu LS.

Thanks for all the help.
