Instrument cluster installation

I have found a donor car that has a tach / speedo instrument cluster to install in my '92 Metro. While pulling the cluster from the donor car, I had intended to pull the wiring harnesses also. My friend at the wrecking yard stated that it will not be necessary, that all Metros shared the same harnesses. If the option was not factory installed, that part of the harness was not used, but the plugs are still there.
Can anyone confirm this?

yes, the 92-94 metro has the tach wire already installed in your dash plugs, just swap the cluster over and it will work if its the right years. 89-91 uses 1 style dash and 92-94 uses a different type. some say 95 will work in the 92-94 but not sure about that. also you should use a 3 cyl tach dash with a 3 cyl car or it won't read right
