Cruise control stop working while driving

Hello there:

The cruise control of my 2002 grand caravan sport, 3.3 litres just stop workin yesterday while I was driving.

The light on the dashboard is working O.K., I mean, when I press the ON the light goes ON, and when press againg to Off, the light turns OFF, so there's power at the controls.

Check for continuity on wires, everything O.K. also check faulty input and output speed sensors at transmission, and they look like O.k.

Also check conector to the Transmission control, and no rust, no damage, look O.K. too.

Check vacuum lines, no audible problem ( leaking ) while engine running.

Please help me with any ideas????

Anyone knows how to check powertrain control module? what conectors specifically just before spending the money?

Thank you

you can use the online manual posted about in this forum to find the wiring. In the post on valve cover gaskets you stated you just had your's done. Did the cruise work at all after this work was done? From what you say the ind light is woking so that means the PCM is getting a signal. I would look very close at a vacuum leak. It doesn't take much.

Re: Cruise control stop working while driving

Hi:
thank you for your answer, yes, the cruise control was working before, as a fact, it was working and I just notice that it stopped because fo the low speed, but the light was still working.

I'll take a closer look of the vaccum hoses.

Thank you

Re: Cruise control stop working while driving

A common failure item is the stop light switch (under dash and adjacent to the brake pedal), if the foot on this device is hanging up or stuck that will cancel the cruise control ( I have replace two of these on various cars including my '96 Caravan).

I don't know if the T&C has this feature because mine has never done that, but another vehicle I owned would disable the cruise if both breaklights were burned out. I had written it off to age until I replaced the bulbs and it came back to life.
