Headlights work but now Interior lights stay on

I am really starting to think I have something going on in the electrical system.

On my 1993 GP SE I just replaced both lowbeam headlights and everything seems to be fine there.

Nowthe interior lights stay on after the key is removed from the ignition and the doors are closed.

If I get in the passengers side, put the key in the ignition, turn to ACC the interior lights shut off. Then I turn the key to OFF, remove the key from the ignition and exit the car via the passenger side door and the interior lights go off - no problem..

But if I do the same thing and exit the car from the drivers side and the lights stay on forever. The automatic dimmer doesnt kick in after 20 seconds to kill off the interior lights.

I checked the dimmer slider in the car and its set to OFF.

How do I fix this?

Thanks for all your help!

~Brian

By interior lights do you mean dome lights or dash lights, or all of them?

Might want to check the door switch for proper operation. Not sure where its located. It might be inside the door.

Dome lighting (ceiling, near the floor). The dash lights turn off fine - its just the interior lighting.

So would the issue be the switch that the door pushes against to kill the dome light or something else? The passenger side kills the dome light just fine.

yeah, thats what I suggested. I figured you checked it out already. Might have to take the door panel off to access it. I think its inside the door.
