Re: lift up on the door to open

Hinges are probably worn out. either need to replace them, or change the bushings

Re: lift up on the door to open

When the door is all the way open, can you lift up and down on it like its loose? If so, like said above, either the bushings are wore out, or the hinges are bad. Or best case scenario, the hing bolts are just loose, but I doubt that.

Re: lift up on the door to open

Time for carbon fiber doors then. Save a ton of weight there!

Re: lift up on the door to open

The doors aren't actually that heavy. You want a heavy door..try a F-body door..Anyways , the CF doors are just as strong as the sheet metal doors from factory as far as stability and durability and if you get T-boned either way..the door won't make much of a difference if it's a hard enough impact to go through the door.

Re: lift up on the door to open

Carbon doors are made for show and track cars that have a reinforced roll bar, I would never put them on a street car. If you need to lose some weight, there are other places to do it than the doors, and if the doors are your last resort, I'm betting that car is running lower than 11's, and at that speed, you'd better have a roll cage in it.

Re: lift up on the door to open

Has anyone seen how much CF doors are anyway? Bastards cost just about as much as the DSM itself. IMO unless you have a cow that eats grass and shits money, they are a completely rediculous thing to buy.

In regards to the OP, have you had that door off recently? My buddy had a black 1g DSM that came with a damn 2g door on it () so we swapped window motors and put the 1g door back on, but we didnt get the bolts tight and it kinda hung like you are saying. I'd tighten them up if you can, but otherwise I'd either just deal or get new stuff like people have been saying.

Have you tried anything said yet? Let us know how it goes and what the problem is if you find it.
