engine swap

Hi. I'm new to this so I might need a little help.
We just got a '99 venture that needs a new engine.
Can we use a 3.4L from an '01 grand am instead??

Re: engine swap

Welcome to AF. Any salvage year can give that info from their interchange books, this avoids any misinfo.

Re: engine swap

You most likely can use that motor. However, you have to check and recheck the electrical hookups. The vehicles main harness has all the plug-ins for the components and the engine component hookups have to match.

You will probably have to swap out components from the old motor to the new one.

Example, I put a 99 motor in a 97. the 99 had a slightly different harness on the fuel rail injectors and temp sensor wire. I had to use the 97 parts on the new motor. This is one of 3-4 things that were different.
