so i put seafoam in my car about a week ago, via the oil pan, engine, and gas tank.
and right after i turned on my car the engine light went on..there was tons of white smoke meaning the seafoam did its thing..but the engine light's been on! However, my car has been running just fine. tomarrow im going in for some free warrenty work at the dealership, and they're replacing the oil, spark plugs and a few other things..could that take care of it? or would anyone have an idea of what it could be...? |

Re: engine light on after using seafoam
We need a little more information: what car you drive, miles on your odometer, maintenance history.
I do not think that Seafoam caused your MIL to come on. You need to read a code and go from there. Sam

Re: engine light on after using seafoam
I am a little confused about "warranty". It is 95 and suppose to be out of warranty, unless you bought it with some other company.
Now back to your code. I think any garage can check your codes but I doubt they will do it for free. You can do it yourself. Remove your glove box. You will see a blue connector with two wires. I think this connector is pluged somewhere on the wall. Pull it up. You need to short this connector with something (paper clip comes handy here). Then put your key in the ignition and turn it to ON (ENGINE NOT RUNNING). Count short and long blinks on the MIL. That will be your code. If you want more details about this procedure you need to get Haynes repair manual. The procedure is there. If you do not want to buy a book, look for it in the library. Good luck, Sam

Re: engine light on after using seafoam
It more than likely pissed off a sensor to have the smoke adn what not goin on there, just go have an autoparts store reset the code and it probably wont come back. if it does then look up the code and find out what might actually be causing it.

Re: engine light on after using seafoam
If you need to reset it yourself, pull the ECU fuse out for a while. you could just disconnect your neg battery cable, but then youll have to re enter your radio presets

Re: engine light on after using seafoam
the light turns on for a reason...not because you put seafoam...dont use that stuff...i wouldnt...if you want to clean your fuel injectors let honda do it......disconnect your battery for 30 seconds to clear all memory in you computer...hope you have the radio code!!

Re: engine light on after using seafoam
One possibility, your O2 sensors might went out while the chemical is going through the exhaust. The silver inside the sensor might be contaminated and unable to function; therefore, you get engine check light. I have never use seafoam before. What exactly is it?
You do need to post the error code so we can find out for you.
