Help me choose from the following kits
Hi,
I'm looking to purchase several kits, some on eBay, some through online stores but I need some help to decide between the kits as I have no chance to see the kits in my hands before I order. These kits are not available were I live. Which kits are better or more recommendable? I guess that it depends on what features I think are important, so the basic guidelines for my choices would be:
So the decisions to be made are for:
So basically I would like to know which kits you recommend for each of the above 3 cars. Many many thanks for any input.

Re: Help me choose from the following kits
You can't go wrong with either the Buick or the Torino. They're both quite good, the Torino is excellent. The Buick goes back to Monogram days, but it's always been the same kit, though later they had a 2-in-1 street machine/stock variant, that's probably how it's offered today. The Torino started out as a Pro Modeler Torino GT, and then was made into a Cobra. If you can find the Pro Modeler, it's really nice, with many stripe options, photoetch, etc.
As for '70 Chevelles, the 1/24 scale Monogram/Revell offerings (BM, Heavy Chevy, Chevelle SS) are based on old tooling, the new B/M variant (box says 1/25 but it is 1/24) has many new parts, but some people are concerned that the basic kit has some proportion/detail issues. Revell has an excellent, but simple, '70 Chevelle SS 454 in 1/25 scale as a curbside kit (I think it's in Wheels of Fire and Hot Wheels boxes). It's the best looking '70 Chevelle ever made with perfect body proportions/details and great interior, but if you demand more detail, your best bet will be to get the new 1/24 B/M version and do a clean build of it, it won't be a difficult model to put together as Monogram kits from that era are pretty well engineered. AMT Chevelles after '69 really aren't worth mentioning, they have numerous problems.

Wow! That was a fast reply!
Thank you very much. I'm in a hurry right now so I'll read it later this evening and if I have more questions I'll post them. Thanks

Re: Help me choose from the following kits
like Bob said the Wheels of Fire snap 70 Chevelle is the nicest kit out there. but if you really want a full detail Chevelle you could combine the Wheels of Fire snap 70 Chevelle, with an AMT 69 Olds Cutlass. use the chassis, underhood detail from the cutlass. it would be an involved project but its the best way to get a very accurate 1970 Chevelle SS

Re: Help me choose from the following kits
Mmmmm. Interesting indeed. That would take me into a dangerous kitbashing territory which I've never done.
So what I would need to do for an almost perfect '70 Chevelle is get myself actually 2 kits, the Fire Snap Chevelle for the body and the wheels and the '69 Olds Cutlass for the chassis and underhood detail? I guess the rest of the parts should be quite the same from both kits to complete the model. It sounds good, but if I keep purchasing more and more kits my wife will probably throw them outa the window with the same speed the kits arrive Regarding the Torino I have looked for the Promodeller version but it's quite difficult to find and at double the price of the normal version. I have heard that it is worth it, but I think the normal Revell kit with over 120 parts should be quite a nice kit. I was just wondering about the differences, if any, between the Revell Muscle Series and the normal Revell box. ![]() ![]() And finally for the Buick my choices are: ![]() ![]() ![]() As you can see i'm quite lost with so many choices and I would like some recommendations. Thanks again

Re: Help me choose from the following kits
The kitbash w/the Cutlass is an interesting idea. Not sure about engine, but the chassis/underhood stuff would be most valuable. The Revell interior would need to be used.
Any of the kits you show are basically the same as the other, the kits inside are the same for all intents and purposes, they usually just redo boxart. Those two Torinos are the same. The Revell Muscle is a new box.
