2005 Pathfinder Issue

My wife's 2005 Pathfinder SE is sometimes making a squeaking noise that we cannot seem to find the root cause of. The sound typically only occurs when we first turn the vehicle on it the morning, but disappears after driving for awhile (which is why when we have taken it to the dealer about 20 minutes away, the sound is gone and they tell us they can't hear anything).

The sound to me is a sort of a loud metallic squeaking that is almost like a metronome (on-off type beat, but consistent). When pressing on the gas, and the RPMs go up, the speed of the "rotations" of the sound increase. Any ideas?

Re: 2005 Pathfinder Issue

There is a service bulletin for the drive belt and tensioner. If there is a belt noise that will not go away, both items are replaced, along with pulley alignment is checked. In almost all cases after repair, belt noise is gone.

Re: 2005 Pathfinder Issue

I have an 2006 SE and had the Belt Tensioner Replaced once. Similar problem. And lately my Steering wheel came loose and had to be fixed by Nissan Extended Warranty.
