Ok guys so I just got finished rebuilding my stroker...AGAIN... lol .. well i took it for a test run... i drove it easy for a good 30min... then i started beating on it on the highway and BOOOOOM !!!! My car turned off... i tried pop starting it from a roll real quick and all it did was VROOOOOOOOM .. and no motor... so i pulled over on the side of the road... So I went to look under my hood while my buddy was cranking my motor ... and my accessery belts including alternator ... was moving once cranking motor... BUT THE TIMING BELT WOULD NOT MOVE !!!.... I have never ever seen this before... well I couldnt get a tow... so I left my car on side of road and it got impounded until I get it back out... I cant take my car apart to see what happened yet ... until i get it out of impound. So i was wondering if anyone knows what the problem might be???? I was thinking maybe the dial pin on the crank snapped off the timing sprocket so that the timing belt wont spin with the crank... but I have never seen or heard of that happening... can anyone please give me any input... also the crank is BRAND NEW ... when i put it in the stroker motor... it only has 3000 miles on whole motor... including new crank.... any thoughts appreciated... THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE !!

Re: Timing Belt Doesnt Move !
Something broke. Maybe a pulley locked up or something, you wont know till you take it apart. You just f*ed your motor up though. Going to have to pull it out again and rebuild the head at the bare minimum. Maybe pistons too depending on how bad they hit the valves. Dont turn the motor over anymore, your only doing more damage.

Re: Timing Belt Doesnt Move !
I can't remember, but is there a shear pin on the 4g63 crank that may have busted? Either way, you've done some damage I think.

Re: Timing Belt Doesnt Move !
30 minute break in? Unless you ran 500 miles in that 30 minutes...

Im guessing he meant he let it run for about 30 minutes and then drove it aggressively to seat the rings.

Re: Timing Belt Doesnt Move !
Was the belt taut? I think the best thing for you to do is just go tear shit apart. Be wary though, you're probably going to have to rebuild the head. |

Re: Timing Belt Doesnt Move !
your problem is that more than likely the gear that drives the timing belt on the crankshaft riped the teeth off your timing belt in the area that it is sitting at right now.. .. thats y when u crank it.. the acessory belts move because your crank pully is attached to that timing gear... so your crank is turning...the timing gear is..and every other belts is moving as well...except the timing belt.... did u happen to reuse your timing belt when u put the engine together? as was said b4 your going to have to remove your timing cover to really get an idea of whats going on ..but dont crank it anymore until u find out whats wrong you'll just be causing damage to your head.
