Best Towing Improvements/Mods

My 97 GMC Z71 K1500 5.7L is basicly stock. I just bought a "lite" trailer (3600 lbs dry) and it sure feels heavy back there. I should be able to tow this no problem! I'm rated at 6500lbs!
What mods can I put on to help pull this thing?? Chip? Dual exaust? Be specific with brands and what your experiences are. I'm looking for the best bang for the buck, but any and all suggestions are welcomed. Thanks.

Re: Best Towing Improvements/Mods

I did full exhaust (headers, hi flow cats, and dual exhaust) as well as ignition upgrade (plugs and wires) and an intake.

I saw a profound difference in my hauling ability (all in bed) I've never towed a trailer but I'de imagine it's a pretty direct translation.

I've buddy upgraded the throttle on his k1500 and saw a huge increase in response, don't know if that really helps with towing though.

Do be carefull, however, with exhaust. It can get really loud if your struggling with a load and the engines living above 4000 rpms. Also if you haul horse trailers or anything you definatly want to get exhaust that exits on the side instead of straight back... for the animals sake.

Hope that helps some.

(PS, all the stuff suggested is fairly simple and you should be able to DIY if your confident in your abilities)
