Just a quick question!!!

Hey guys so i have a 2004 grand am v6 and i just took it to the brake shop and my brother put on new brake pads about a year ago and the mechanic at the brake shop told me that the driver side pads were put on backwards. I didnt think it was really possible to put the pads on backwards i thought they only went on one way the mechanic said the passenger was put on right. So i was just wondering if someboy could explain how you have one side on right and the other side backwards because there trying to charge me a ton of money but it doesnt add up so any help from you gu would be very appreciated

Re: Just a quick question!!!

i dont see how they're wanting to charge you more money, only unless damage was done due to it being reversed...

Re: Just a quick question!!!

well its been a year since the pads were put on and my brother took the car to louisiana when he came back the driver side was grinding so i took it in an the mechanic said the pads were backwards and the rotor and cupplers needed to be replaced along with new pads. Would the pads being reversed cause any damage???

Re: Just a quick question!!!

yes its easy to mix up the pads and install improperly.
The wear indicators go on the inside of the rotor.

If it's not, they will drag-grind and cause all sorts of other problems, ie. eat up rotors, damage calipers, etc etc.
