If you have the enhanced (trip computer) DIC reset must be at the DIC. For non enhanced see below:

Ignition key to ON not start. Fully push the accelerator pedal slowly 3 times within 5 seconds. The light will flash. Then turn key to off and start the engine. Light should now be off.

To be honest i've done this on my non SS (3.8L) prix several times, and it just wont work. i've done it like about 20times all at different speeds within the 5 seconds fully pressing and depressing and no go. (never flashes). I don't wana unhook the battery or anything to manually reset it that way, so it doesn't bother me to have *Change oil soon* for the 1st min of driving lit up.

I have to use the DIC reset since I have the trip computer DIC in my GTP and Regal GS but it never failed to work. Also, this procedure works like a champ in my wife's Regal and other GM "W" cars.

In your case it sounds like a possible glitch with the PCM module. What year is this?
