95 Noisy hvac blower fan
I have a 95, 3.8L, EATC equipped Taurus that I bought in 1999 with 30k miles on it at that time. I now have about 85k miles on it. The fan sounds like the motor has something in it that is lightly hitting it as it turns. It is the most noticable at the slowest speed and least noticable at high speed. Not sure if it goes away at high speed or the sound of the air blowing drowns out the noise. It has made this noise since we bought it and is the same, no worse or no better to this day. I asked the dealer sales lady about it when we were looking at it to maybe get them to fix it. She just suggested I turn on the radio.
So, my questions to y'all is do any of you have this too, is it just normal and the way it is? What could be causing it if it is not normal? I wonder if it is normally noisy or at least is not unusual to maybe have noisy motor brushes as the commutator spins past them.

Re: 95 Noisy hvac blower fan
The blower motor has a squirrel cage fan, and it's not that uncommon for the "max" or recirculator intake to suck up a napkin from the glove box or piece of plastic grocery sack, etc. and cause exactly what you describe. I don't remember how easy the blower motor was to get to on my '93, but they usually are not too bad. I'd suggest you pull the blower motor and fan assembly and check for debris in the squirrel cage and the housing.
