Left Rear Tailight Doesn't Work After Bulb Change

I got stopped by the police for my LR tailight being out last night. The turn signal and brake light function work fine. I replaced the bulb with a new one plus I placed dielectric grease over the connections with no results. Any ideas on how to progress further in figuring out this malfunction? Any fuse for the running lights only on this circuit? Thanks for any insight on this problem!

Re: Left Rear Tailight Doesn't Work After Bulb Change

Does the turn signal work on this light? Just the brake light mode doesn't work? Or is it both that aren't working?

I know on a B250 I recently worked on, the multifunction switch went out, causing some weird taillight issues. Replacing this part fixed the issues.

Thanks for the response!
No, both the turn signal and the brake light work just fine, it is just the running light that does not function at all when the front lights are on at night. Do you think it still is the multifunction control? Is this hard to change?

Did you check to make sure you got 12 volts at the light fixture? Could be a bad connection in the light socket.

You didn't say what yer or model you have, but many of these have a printed type circuit in the tailight housing. Changing the bulb won't do any good if part of the circuit has been separated or becomes corroded. I had a problem with just the taillight part of one side not working and after trying blowing it out with comp air and/or water/brake cleaner I finally just bought another housing. They are expensive new, but are plentiful on Ebay for as little as $10 +shipping.

ME to and I had to replace the whole taillight lens asembly(1 piece)30.00 @junkyard. But if you want to you can use a piece of aluminum foil to complete the broken connection or corroded connection just a small piece will do the trick is getting it to stay in place.. hope it helps

Even the tailights are controlled by the bcm , you try pulling the IOD fuse for a couple minutes and see if that helps . My wife had a weird problem on our 2004 where if you sat behind her at a stoplight you could watch one of the tailights flashby itself , this actually ended being a new software download to the bcm to fix that problem.
