Try cleaning out the Idle Air Control also clean out the openings to the Egr Valve. Auto Zone has an on line service manual I think its $20.00 per year for your vehicle.

Re: 2002 E350 wont stay Idling
I had the same problem last year..and with the help of Automotiveforms I fied the problem on my own.
I removed the Idle Control Valve( ICV )....sprayed it with some carb cleaner and let it soak for awhile...then re-installed it and its worked like a champ ever since. THe problem is carbon buildup on the valve that makes it difficult to open and close. You can get at the ICV by removing the interior canopy ( at least on my 2001 E150 ). Ya need an extension socket wrench....but other than that is pretty easy to do. Likely save $300 or so since a garage guy will want to replace it. Roger |

Re: 2002 E350 wont stay Idling
I would say that it is the idle air control valve, you will need some extensions and i hope you have long arms. its on the throtle body and thats almost inbetween the hood and the access panel in the cab. If i were you i would just go ahead and replace it because most of them just go back to doing the same thing shortly after being cleaned.
If you need any help just PM me |
