Multiple misfires 99 2.2

Please help me guys my truck was running absolutley great and it got low on gas and started missing like crazy. I filled it up with some more gas problem still there. I checked fuel pressure and it was within specs, spark plugs look ok. What would make it start randomly misfireing? I mean the truck will hardly pull out of it tracks. I was thinking maybe the filter had gotten clogged because of the low gas but the pressure is fine. Please help me. The coil wouldnt do that would it?

I pulled the plugs and the two middle ones are black as can be, the front and rear plug looks alright though. Also it seems as if the car is running very rich becuase of the gas smoke coming from the tailpipe now.

Check the coil pack for the #2 and #3 cylinders (same coil for both cylinders). You'll also want to check the spark plugs for proper gap, insulator condition, and check continuity and insulation of the plug wires on #2 & #3. Both are required to be intact for either cylinder to get good spark (a function of the wasted spark system). Weak spark in the cylinders could be causing poor/incomplete combustion, low power, poor mileage, the resulting rich condition, and can eventually cause other damage.

It might be a good idea to check the primary connections for the suspect coil pack. If you're suspecting the coil itself, switch it with the opposite coil and see if the problem moves to cylinders #1 & #4.
