Beginning Modifications...

alright guys, I think its become time....

Not looking at a smaller supercharger pulley yet, but what I am considering is this....

1.9 ratio modified rockers (http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_p...=426&catid=104)

I think this would be a good way to open up the intake, my questions are...
1. how easy are these to install? Can I do them myself?
2. how well will these support maybe say a 3.4 pully down the road?
3. Will I still get 32mpg highway if I dont beat on my car with these?

I cant open the intake without opening the exhaust, so I was gonna get a ubend delete to go along with these rockers. Have a shop do this work.

At the same time, replace the valve cover gaskets and bolts because I believe they are torque to yield, correct? Does the valve lash have to be set on these then? Got any recker replacement tutorials Bob?

Really hate to set something up wrong and ding a valve with a piston, is it possible on a 3800? Are they interference or freewheeling design?

Comments??? Concerns????

Thanks!!!

Re: Beginning Modifications...

Maybe add a 3.5" supercharger pulley also.

http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_p...=198&catid=111

Didnt realize they are so cheap.

After I ad the pulley, get some colder plugs.

What do you guys think?

Re: Beginning Modifications...

Instead of delving inside the engine first, I would go with a reprogrammed PCM, smaller pulley, and colder plugs along with the u-bend delete and a hi-flow cat to help it breathe (correct me if I'm wrong Bob).

Nothing to correct Rich. Those are the typical good basic mods and will not destroy fuel economy. Technically, even with 1.9 ratio rockers a re-programmed PCM module should be used. I prefer 1.8 roller rockers for street and strip use especially with no hot cam installed. RPMs should be limited to no more than 6200 rpm via PCM module programming. I would recommend the 3.4" SC pulley over the 3.5".
