smoke

I just noticed smoke coming from my a/c compressor. when i took the belt going to the compressor the smoke stopped and the belt was really hot(drove 10miles non highway) but the belt was in the form of the pully system like the belt has not moved at all but im sure it did. If the compressor is bad can i rebuild it? i think the clutch in the compressor is what made it smoke though like it was not catching.

Re: smoke

chances are if the belt was smoking the a/c compressor locked up your best bet is to buy a new comperssor i don't think there is a cost effective or easy way to rebuild the compressor

Re: smoke

I have not seen a replacement clutch kit for these, so yeah, new or used compressor.
