chevy c1500

I have a 1995 chevy p/u c1500 that right now has no brake lights and no turn signals. I have replaced the bulbs and that does not seem to be the problem. I am wondering if it is the brake light switch,and if so where is the brake light switch located. I can't seem to find it. Can someone please help me out here. Thank you, Dave

If you have a 3rd brake light and it works then it's not the brake light switch. Most common problem area is the turn signal switch itself or if you have a trailer wiring plug that should be looked at also.

Yep. I would look at the plug connector under the rear bumper.
If you have no trailer wire harness installed, there is a plug connector within the trucks wire harness to the rear lights where you would plug in a pig tail plug for trailer lights. that connection gets coroded.
What happens when you turn on the blinkers? does the indicator light on the dash flash fast or slow?

Well I am going to look into what you are telling me and see if that could be the problem. My turn signal works on the left side just fine, however the turn signal on the right side only blinks in the front and real fast, but does not work on the back of the truck.

if right side blinks too fast there is a shorted wire to rear light , or the lamps /socket shorted out in rear on this right side....

check all !!!!! bulbs with om meter

when you are checking the bulbs and sockets, check for a bad ground wire as well where the wire leads into the light housing.
and the more I think of it, that perticular vehical has a circuit board within the rear light housing.
If it does, you might need to replace the whole light assy.
You will know when you pull it apart, the wires plug into the light housings circuit board and the bulb is in the housing.
If the wires lead right to the bulb and it twists right into the socket then disreguard the above mentioned style light housing.

check all the fuses make sure one aint blown

i had that same problem with no brake lights and the third brake light on top of the cab still worked. ended up being the big fuse under the hood. the little fuse in the cab was not blown, so i figure it must be a relay for the system that uses the bigger fuse or something and the third brake light must run off the smaller fuse to make sure you still have some kind of brake lights if the big fuse takes a dump
