Re: Lowering my 1972 Beetle??
Is it a Super or Standard Beetle?
If a Standard, there are 2 ways to do it. 1. Is to get a new front beam with lowering adjusters, or have adjusters welded in. This twists the torsion leaves inside the tube to lower the front. This is the easiest way. 2. Is to get a set of lowered front spindles. This way is preferred, since it maintains the front end geometry, and keeps the alignment proper. Also there's less strain on the torsion leaves. A good idea if you use this method is to convert the front to disc brakes. You can lower the rear end by adjusting the spring plates. This is a pretty in depth undertaking, reserved for VW shops or only the most experienced do-it-yourselfer. Any of the VW parts joints have the parts to do it. www.jbugs.com www.mamotorworks.com www.cip1.com etc. |
