93 mustang 4 cyl. lost power and exhaust overheated
I was driving my 93 mustang it's only a 4 cyl, but after i stopped and put gas in it about a mile after it lost alot of power and would accelerate really slow and every time a went to start from a stop it felt like it was going to stall but it wouldn't i drove it a little bit to see if it would stop but i didn't so i pulled over and turned it off and tried again but still the same then it started smoking from inside, underneath the backseat? so i just stopped and left it alone hoping it would go away but it didn't. after a while it got worse and started to notice a hole burning through my backseat. i have no idea what happened but one of my nieghbors said it might be my catalytic converter. can you possibly help me with any ideas of what it could be? i would truly appreciate it thank you.

Re: 93 mustang 4 cyl. lost power and exhaust overheated
Something happened to your converter to make it over heat. A spark plug miss will do that. Pull the trouble codes and fix the engine problem first. Then you may need a new converter.

Either the converter started coming apart from the inside out and clogged itself, or you jumped time.
This thread is old, but theres the answer to your question.
