Tire Question

Hey guys, I think sometime in the next couple of weeks Im gonna be getting some new kicks on my baby, I've been doing a lot of research on tirerack and want your opinions on my top 3 all-season tire choices, respectively...
(also if you guys have an other recommendations)

#1. Goodyear Assurance Tripletred - very good user ratings, too bad the tred looks like ass in my opinion, but even though I've always been a fan of bf goodriches, I'm leaning towards this tire.

#2. BF Goodrich Traction T/A T - What I have now, and so far been impressed. Looks like a fairly decent tire.

#3. Bridgestone Potenza G 009 - looks like the best rated high performance all season tire I've seen on the site.

The triple treads are a good choice but there is nothing wrong with the other two choices. I like Goodrich too as they wear very well. I have had Bridgestones and was not impressed. The Goodyears are rated number 1 in the category so you can't go wrong with purchasing #1.

I don't have any experience with any of the specific brands you listed but the better GoodYear tires to consider are the GoodYear Eagle RSA and F1 All Season which I do have experience with. Really not that much more in cost considering the better overall quality and performance. Plus more positive reviews than negative. A major complaint with the Assurance TripleTreds due to the tread design is an uncomfortable vibration experienced at higher speeds and premature belt breakdown well before 80K miles. Also, the GoodYear Assurance ComferTred and Intergrity are average mediocre tires that I would pass on.

I forgot to stipulate the GoodYear tires I mentioned are a good option with aftermarket wheels especially a bigger size than the stock 16". Maybe impossible to find in size P225/60-R16 like the other tires. The Eagle RSA have mixed reviews but based on my experiences a great tire. It really improves the curve handling capabilities and traction is well above average. Not really a good all season but on dry pavement hard to beat. Prices are way down too and I bought 4 of them size P245/45-R18 "V" rated but for my 18" AR Casino wheels. RSA being or is discontinued. The Eagle F1 are no doubt top notch for the price from what I can see. I'm ordering four F1 for my son's Alero but for 18" wheel size.

the triple treads are awesome tires. i have them on my SE. I also used to work for goodyear as a wholesale representative, so i sold ALOT of them tires. eventhough you are going to pay apx $110 a tire, they come w/ the 80k warrenty, you just dont find another tire like that. all around you get awesome traction, with a comfortable, and quite riding tire.

**edit** as i am looking at other people's replies, i am wondering what you are going to be using these tires for. are you looking for a tire that will handle well under higher speeds? i guess before throwing my reply out there, i shoulda asked what type of driving you do...
the Triple treads are awsome for snow/rain, but not the best tire for handling wise...IE higher speed cornering and such. i see the Goodyear Integrity was mentioned above also. this is a very comparable tire for the price. as for the Eagle RSA's...they are an awesome tire for performance wise, but if you drive your car in the winter.....your car will litterally get stuck on flat ground

Good points. But I don't have much of a winter here in the desert Southwest so the RSAs work fine for me and considering what I paid for them. I think Tim freezes his butt off. .... Being a GoodYear man I'm surprised you didn't mention anything about the Eagle F1 All Season which appears the be to one to seriously look at considering their overall performance, super reviews and price...that is if you can find the OEM size and desire to stay with the GoodYear brand. For oversize no problems.

Like anything for your Grand Prix or any car for that matter the bottom line is personal preference, experience and the cost factor. You'll get what you pay for.

I bought my car with Michelin Hydro-edges on it, and the funny thing is they excel at almost everything except what they are designed for....wet weather. They are quiet, great wear, great grip and are good in the snow, but aren't worth a damn in the rain. I've never hydroplaned, but any application of throttle in the wet and you're spinning.

last i heard RSA's were being discontinued in the 225 60 16's I'm not sure if they have been or not. as for the Eagle F1 All Season, great tire, but i dont believe they come in a 225 60 16.

The Assurance doesn't offer the performance that I think you're looking for. It's pretty much a soccer mom tire, despite its aggressive looking tread pattern.

Ditto on the great post. I was actually looking at these same tires, probably going to go with the Potenza--maybe in a couple months though, other expenses first. As far as the prices go, I found the Potenza and Traction for about $85, but the Assurance is a little over $100.

I havnt gotten anything yet, waiting for my tax returns, but I think I will buy the goodyear triple treds. Its either those or bf goodrich tracion ta's again.

And I guess I should mention that I'm looking for an all-season tire. Not necessarily performance, just something that will last long and and give good traction in snow/ice/rain/dry conditions.

I've only ever used Goodyear and Michelin. Currently using Goodyear Ultra LS Touring and they have great tread life, rated for 80k miles and I currently have about 60k on them after nearly 4 years.
