95 Suburban blower motor only works on high??? help??

Hello all,

I'm sorry as I'm sure this is a report...but I have tried and tried the search with no clear results...

I have a 95 Chevy Suburban that the front blower recently started only working on "high"...nothing from any of the other levels.... I suspected the blower relay and did research on it...and replaced the relay...same results...only works on high..

I'm sure someone has experienced this...and any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance,

mikesaiztx

It should have a resister block on it that feeds lower blower speeds.

I don't know if GM has the same system but in my former car, a Toyota Hilux, there was a resistor-block next to the blower. Build inside the "tube" so that it got cooled by the blowing air of the fan.

If you only have the max. speed left, the resister for the min. speed is blown and the resistors for the selections in between are "in series" so they don't work either.

The resister block should be under right side of dash mounted on the heater housing.
About 5 wires plug in on it and usually bolted to heater housing with 2 screws.

Re: 95 Suburban blower motor only works on high??? help??

Just had the same issue with my 95 Suburban. It was the blower resistor. $14.99 at the local parts store. You'll have to take the glove box out to get to it/see it. I don't remember what the exact colors of the wires were, but I think there were 5 wires, I remember lt blue, dk blue, and tan. It's a bit of a bear to get too, but keep at it, it can be done.

Re: 95 Suburban blower motor only works on high??? help??

There is usually a reason for the resistors to blow and in most cases it is the blower motor itself that is starting to seize up and causing too much resistance thusly blowing the resistors.

Re: 95 Suburban blower motor only works on high??? help??

I'm going to revive this old thread because I have the same issue on my '97 Burb. Heater fan only works on high. I replaced what looks like a relay (black square about 1" in each dimension) mounted behind the glove box on the left side of the top of the heater housing with about 5 wires plugged into it. That didn't fix it. I've read about a resistor pack. Did I replace the resistor or the relay and if I replaced the relay, where's the resistor located and what does it look like?

Thanks.
