1998 f150 trying to start by itself

My son's 98 f150 is acting possessed! He came home after driving in a heavy storm. After turning off the ignition, and taking out the key, the stereo and other accessories remained on. Later, I heard the truck trying to start. I thought my son was leaving, but after walking over there was no one in the truck! I finally had to disconnect the battery because it was grinding and trying to start every second. Any ideas? Thanks, Tom

I don't have any hands on with a truck this new. I think I know what your problem is. It's something called the GEM generic electronic module. It's located somewhere under the dash I think. What happens is the windshield leaks and causes the GEM to get wet and all kinds of crazy things happen. If you talk to someone about repairing it mention the generic electronic module GEM. Hopefully they will know what you're talking about. After drying out the GEM, you need to repair the leak around the windshield for a permanent fix.
