1999 ford ranger misses at idle

I have a 1999 ranger with the 3.0 flexfuel system, seems like it is missing at idle, and the code that keeps showing up is a #4 missfire, Now I have replaced the plugs, wires, and coil, but still no luck, just seems like it has no power at speed and exsesive fuel consumption, I'm just at my wits end, lol

Use a stethoscope and listen to the injector and compare the sound to the other injectors. If it sounds different replace it. If it isn't working use a noid light and check for power before replacing. Check compression on the cylinder it may have a bad valve.

Re: 1999 ford ranger misses at idle

The 3.0 and 3.8 also act kinda weird when they start having fuel pump issues. Most cars get a roving miss, but these two engines tend to pick a cylinder or two and remain loyal to it. My brother did intake gaskets, plugs, wires, coils, injectors, then tore down the heads on his old Taurus, the whole time telling me "Fuel pressure is fine, it's not fuel, all the other cylinders hit except this one" guess what...it was a fuel pump. Good luck with it!
