No more F1 in europe soon!

According to Eurosport.com

Formula One could be left with only a handful of races in Europe and hooked on tobacco sponsorship for years to come, International Automobile Federation (FIA) president Max Mosley has warned.

Well, with the new rules, the increase in budget from all the teams, the de-localisation from Europe's nicest circuits (Think Spa, and it seems that more are still to come), the FIA has gone a little it too far ! They seem to have gone just mad to make F1 a spectacular and entertaining sport, but at what expence?

Oh well, it can't be over soon enough. That FIA takes our beloved sport to the moon for my part. I'm so fet up with everything that I've reached the stage that I'm starting not to care anymore.

GPWC can't be here soon enough, so let's hope it's 2008 tomorrow! In the meanwhile DTM and WRC will keep my racing needs happy.

I don't mind - more races on unfamiliar tracks. I'd hate to see Marlboro and west liveries gone.

I agree...they should bring F1 back to places like Mexico, South Africa...perhaps even Tripoli (yeah right!). I'd hate to see the classics go, though; I'd rather places like the Nurburgring and Hungaroring get the axe.

Well, when Silverstone gets the axe, we know F1 will be gone forever.

There is no reason to axe Silverstone on tobacco advertising grounds as they haven't had tobacco sponsors on cars there in years

on the other hand, the event has to change somewhat, as at the moment it seems like one of the worst-organized gp-s on the calendar. If you read british F1 forums, you'll see how unhappy everyone is with some aspects, including the inflated ticket prices to imit the number of spectators so that they don't have too many traffic problems.

Well, I have relatives in England who are F1 fans, and they just watch it on TV...

I live in Belgium and went only 3 times to Spa to watch F1. ('88, '92, '96). Not the organisation that bothered me, but the expensive ticket pricing. And although Spa is the most daunting and beloved of them all, it got axed because of tabacco

Personally,Idon't care who sponsors the teams,or advertises on the track,it's about RACING.As a long term smoker, I can honestly say that F1 has no influence on which brand I smoke, nor do I hold it responsible for my decision to start smoking. The British government gets the credit there for offering me as many duty-free cigarettes as I could smoke when I was in the Navy. The whole anti-tobacco thing is a farce. If they carry it to it's logical conclusion, they could ban F1 altogether, after all driving at speed can be hazardous to your health.
