can't remember maker

I am not sure this is the best place to ask this- I am trying to remember the name of a car maker that my aunt had in the 1930-40's. The car was a 1939, but what maker????, there are only three left that my father was aware of- one in the Smithsonian, one by a private collector in Arizona (I think), and I don't remember where the third one was. During WWII, when so many cars were melted for ammo, my aunt gave the car to the government- I don't think it was a Duesenberg, but what other models can you think of that were luxury cars? I am just trying to think- and can't! What might the car be?? Thanks all.
