Brake Drum Nightmare Is Not Over!

Drove the truck to work today and noticed a hot clutch like smell. When I got to work I noticed that the drums were very hot! In fact, one was so hot you could throw snow on it and it sizzled!! Was the same way coming home!

So, obviously my brake shoes are dragging (you can feel it when you drive, too). Didn't notice it on my brief road test after I put the drums on, I guess.

Does that mean bad return springs (they seemed ok when the drum was off)? The really hot side was the side that didn't get the new wheel cylinder; but I thought the cylinder was working ok on this wheel. What else could it be? I don't think the parking brake is too tight. It seems to have a lot of distance when you pull the brake handle while sitting in the truck (make sense?).

I've probaly cooked my brand new brake shoes haven't I? I've probably also done damge to the drum, too!

Guess I should've just taken the f#@* thing to Midas! *sigh*

Have you tried adjusting the adjuster screw on the back. It might be behind a little black rubber boot.
