Only my speedometer in my dash doesnt work anymore and stays at 0. It happened when i was driving home and my guage jumped to 80mph then back down to 0 mph and happened 3 times till it died. It's not stuck so I checked the ecu and it read 55 then I changed my speed sensor thinking it will fix it. That doesnt work so I'am thinking it's the guage and I should replace it. I dont like paying mechanics when i can do it myself but I'am stumped on how to do that operation carefully. If anyone knows how to replace the guage or any good websites instruction's; please post.
I almost got a speeding ticket for doing 40 in a 25 zone. ![]() 1993 300ZX |

Re: Speedometer Problem
Using the manual
http://www.300zx-twinturbo.com/cgi-bin/manual.cgi you can check the speed sensor. If it's not there work upwards along the wiring. Provided there are no breaks or bad contacts you can probably assume it's a bad or broken connection in the dash unit, which, unless you can find the exact solder joint that's broken or burnt, will require a replace gauge cluster.
