Broken differential pin? How to check?
Hi all- Our 1999 T & C with 3.8l and 41TE trans crapped out this morning. My wife was driving along and said it sounded like she ran over something and then then it would not move.
When I got there and tried to drive it, I could hear the solenoids engage, but no forward or reverse gears. I didn't have a lot of time to check it out, but I was thinking broken drive axle or perhaps the differential pin. I know the axles will be easy to check- how to I check for a broken diff pin? The trans fluid looks like new. No discoloration or metal shavings and no trouble codes. Thanks in advance! |

Re: Broken differential pin? How to check?
update- I pulled the pan and there is shrapnel in the bottom. Looks like gear teeth and a couple needle bearings. Clear cut case of trans failure or could this be the diff?
