passlock, disable, turn off, by pass

I post this as a public service to help those that have been having problems with their passlock systems, engine won't start due to no fuel (you must go through a 15 min. wait with ignition on to allow passlock to reset. The passlock cylinder is defective when this happens..I have a 2002 Malibu, I removed the plastic bezals, radio and removed 2 bolts on the ignition. It was hell removing the 2 plugs and cable so I went after the 3 wires on top knowing they were for the passlock. I clipped all 3, engine off, key out. Passlock was activated so fuel was cut off. Tested wires..Black-ground, white and yellow I can't remember but one was charged 12 volt..the other was the receiver wire. I took the 2 black ends and added a solid ground to them and wire nutted them together. so they would be sticking out next to the radio when installed. I bundled the 2 yellow ends with the 2 white ends together and also wire nutted them so they would come out next to the radio. Installed tyhe bezals. If nec the big bezal pops right off and the wires can be put back as original easily. The car immediately started. I believe this is the proper way. The trouble light is on but it may go out when the code is removed at the auto parts store (Oreilly). Some newer cars won't remove codes when disconnecting the battery. It's been a week now without any problems. Please add input if you find something out..I will. Bob
