Civic std rear wiper.

I know these cars didn't come with rear wipers, but I recently borked my hatch and bought another one off a dx. It fits fine but did not come with the wiper and now ive got a hole in the ass of my car. I know that many things on the different trim levels of these cars are already wired in, even if the parts arent there..like a/c for example, or the little cargo light in the hatch area..or even rear speakers. But when I was replacing the hatch I notice that there was no plug lying in the c pillar of the car. So here is my question to anyone who has stripped a hatchback or knows the wiring on these, Ive only personally stripped my crx.

Is there a plug somewhere in the car for the rear wiper on a std? I know I have to get the control box for the rear wiper and the control switch as well, but am I going to have to run wires all the way through my car just to get the damn thing to work?

Re: Civic std rear wiper.

Lol yeah, I went out in the middle of the night after reading the helms manual to try and see if the 6p plug even exsists in the steering column, but by the crappy dome lighting I really couldnt tell. Ill look today when I go out to the car.

Re: Civic std rear wiper.

I'd guess the wiring is there.. from what I can remember from wiring diagrams, they used pretty standard harnesses that were pre-built and not based on model.

Re: Civic std rear wiper.

Yeah I know..I went and looked today and the plug wasn't even in the steering column. Oddly enough though, the stalk that does not have a rear wiper switch did have the 6pin socket for the plug lol.. Id have to do more searching because I cant remember how long that piece of harness is before it plugs into the fuse box, but it could just be as simple as swapping that short harness that runs to the steering column. Man I haven't been in a junkyard in so long, I crave info!

Re: Civic std rear wiper.

haha... gl w/ the rear wiper.. even if it's not easy, if you want it bad enough, you'll find a way to make it work.

Re: Civic std rear wiper.

Well its not so much that I want the wiper so bad..as I DONT want the hole in my hatch, nor do I really wanna put a plug in it. But the wiper would be nicer than waiting for the defroster to burn the moisture off in the morning. Hell if it annoys me enough I guess I could just mount the damn wiper and not wire it. Why am I making my car heavier?!

Re: Civic std rear wiper.

Eh, for the convenience vs. a couple lbs... it's worth it. there are times that I wish I had a rear wiper in my Sedan.. b/c the rear defroster doesn't work except 3 lines, and even they take forever.

I'm checking the legality of speedglas for rear windshields... if I can get it legally, I'll just get some defrost paint and put the lines back on it, or get a sheet of heat conductive plasma.. it's a clear sheet that has a heat-building material in it, that heats up almost instantly when hit with electricity.. I've only just heard of it, haven't done any research on it, and it's probably really expensive.

Re: Civic std rear wiper.

Lol..I cant believe I went to the junkyard to look for a tail light and didnt research it further..

Btw if anyone has a left rear hatch tail light I am in need of one, there was only one hatch out of 3 yards and the light was cracked.

Re: Civic std rear wiper.

I still have a pair of CRX tail housings, painted black inside, but that won't help you w/ the lenses.. b/c I don't have them anymore.
