Megan downpipe for less!

I went ahead and started ordering my exhaust and this morning I got the downpipe. I ordered it on eBay from user "tuningpros". Here is my link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...SA:MOTORS:1123

Anyway, I look at the box and it's actually a Megan Racing downpipe. Comes with MR sticker and MR warranty card. And it has the Megan Racing logo tack welded to the downpipe itself. $124 shipped.

Definitely check out this guy if looking for a MR downpipe. They must not be allowed to list it under the MR name.

Re: Megan downpipe for less!

Thats a pretty good price I must agree. Really as long as it fits properly and is of decent quality all downpipes are pretty equal so the fact that its MR is second. but name brnad is always nice to have.

I think I've dealt with them on three occasions, good company for sure.

Re: Megan downpipe for less!

I also ordered a Tsudo catback from ebay. I'm hoping they fit together without too much tweaking and hacking. I have access to a bandsaw and tig welder so any modifications will be easy

Did Tsudo start making a GSX exhaust? I only remember them making a GST one before.

Yeah I know. I had their catback system on my 95 GST. I was extremely dissapointed when I couldn't get one for my 91 GSX. Looks like that has changed!

Re: Megan downpipe for less!

I own a few MR products and they are pretty good. Megan is a good cheaper brand.
About the downpipe, that seems to be a damn good price.
But....
I remember reading somewhere about how one of the megan downpipes wouldnt fit right. It was on some forum, somewhere and there was multiple people talking about how they bought megan down pipes for their cars and that they didnt fit right. I think the downpipe would hit the oil pan or something. I dont remember exactly what car it was for that they were having problems with. I know it was a certain DSM...not sure which year though, or if it was gst or gsx.
Hopefully you dont have the certain car that the MR d/p's are poo poo for.

Re: Megan downpipe for less!

I remember reading issues about it too but I think the date of the threads was awhile ago and they ironed out the problems since then. We will see...

Re: Megan downpipe for less!

I think the only fitment issues were with 2g AWD (maybe just 2ga's, not sure) because I'm pretty sure I remember a long post from scottsee about his not fitting right. One thing I do want to say is that if you have a Megan catback, test pipe, and downpipe (like me) a flange on either the catback, downpipe, or test pipe will need to be cut and rewelded. All of their test pipes have the flanges straight across and if anyone can picture the cat from a 1g AWD, one flange is rotated approximately 15* of the other... they did not do this on the 3" test pipe. I like the sound of my all Megan system, its nice and deep, not obnoxiously loud, and its a tick throaty too. In all honesty though, even if it sounded like a bumblebee I wouldnt change anything, sound isnt important to me.

Re: Megan downpipe for less!

Re: Megan downpipe for less!

Thought I would update...

I got my Tsudo cat-back and it fits perfect. But I noticed that the MR downpipe does not delete the cat. I always thought it did.

Just a quick shot to see how the exhaust comes out. Seems like most want to know what the tailpipe looks like coming out. Sorry about the shitty pic. RAZR's blow.
