What's going on?-cutting off.

Happy 2008 everyone.

I have a 92 4.3 Astro that is giving me problems all of a sudden. I just serviced it last week. When I'm driving the transmission doesn't want to get out of 2nd gear most of the time now. Also when I make a turn or come to a complete stop the engine suddenly dies and I start rolling in the street.I have to try and put it in park while praying to God that I don't hit anyone/anything. The engine light comes on while driving also.

I need help. Don't want to get in an accident.I've been lucky five times already! First time it cut off I was heading downhill, right behind this brand new Nissan Maxima. My van shook, cut off and I was rolling into the car fom ten feet behind. Another time I made this turn and went right into the next lane and couldn't stop. Once I get it in park then I can start it again. I know how to do the paper clip thing but cant tell which slots are A & B to push it in to read the codes. My fear is now that i may get in a serious accident with serious problems-I need my ride to get to work.

Thanks for your help everyone!!!

Check for a significant vacuum leak, specially for the brake power booster.

Hmmm... That graphic looks REALLY familiar.

I guess it's been used in a lot more places than I imagined. It's just another site which has "borrowed" the graphic without the rest of the text. If they had, they would NOT be listing a "12" as "Testing ECM" as many erroneously report it to be.
