98 z24 my thermostat doesnt fit

I just bought a 98 z24, it wasnt heating up so I pulled the thermostat housing to find that there wasnt a thermostat in it, so I bought one only to find that it is way smaller than the hole in the head, so thinking that they had given me the wrong part, I went back to the parts store and they searched every thermostat for a 2.4 and a 2.2 from 95 to 2000 and they were all the same. Is there a part missing in the head or any ideas?

is weird, it should fit, btw when you get the thermostat did it came with the round gasket?

remember, if the thermostat doesnt have the ring gasket it might come out smaller

if it has the gasket and is still smaller, then is bull and they did give you the wrong part

wont be the first time they do it, if you have a repair manual, try to look for the factory part number and go from there, also, look at how the thermostat houssing looks to make sure nothing is missing

hope this helps

go to a dealer, he should give you a good quality thermy and gasket for your car. it may cost a nickel more but then you should be able to eliminate that part of your cooling issues if problem persists

Re: 98 z24 my thermostat doesnt fit

The only gasket they gave me was an o-ring to seal the thermostat housing to the head, I have seen before gaskets that go around the outside of the thermostat itself so maybe that is what is missing, by the way, what kind of bike is that? Ive got an 07 650 Ninja
