Lightbulb CRX front bumper on a Civic?

Any one tried it and does it fit correctly?

Re: CRX front bumper on a Civic?

I think *think* you can take the bumper cover and put it over your stock framing... that might work, but I wouldn't pay for it until I found out for sure... got a junkyard around? Try swapping it there... it's free.

Re: CRX front bumper on a Civic?

I bought a junk 90 CRX si for $100. My 91 Civic Si took a hit on the front a while back and I've been to lazy to fix it. The headlights & hood is all I really planned on using. My bumper & the CRX bumper have to come off to remove/install headlights so they will be off any way for a test fit. I was just curious if any one had tried it. Bumpers take 5 minutes to remove so if it doesn't work it's not like I wasted hours.

Re: CRX front bumper on a Civic?

Oh, you didn't say it was a hatch.. in that case, yes, go crazy. I thought you were talking about a Sedan, in which case, I'd have told you that the hood wouldn't fit.

But,since you're going from hatch to CRX, have a field day, strip it out, call it a week, sell whatever you don't need, and junk the shell. (if it's that bad.)

Re: CRX front bumper on a Civic?

The bumper wont fit on a sedan, they are wider. Just for reference.

Re: CRX front bumper on a Civic?

Don't think the bumper will fit the hatch either...might have to use the CRX Fenders. From what I could tell, the hatch bumpers are kind of flat on the top around here they match up to the fender. On the CRX, there is part of the bumper that raises up to match the front face of the fender, and then it goes below the fender as well.

If you do get it to work, let me know I prefer the CRX bumper over the hatch bumpers.

Re: CRX front bumper on a Civic?

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that they're interchangeable... same w/ fenders and hood.. in fact, the hatch/CRX are basically the same body, just one is cut off a lil further up

Re: CRX front bumper on a Civic?

I asked Ami awhile back on it and she said it was kind of complicated, so I haven't looked too much into it, just noticed when I was at the yard last couple times seeing a CRX and I looked at the bumper, where they match up to the fender is different, but thats all I looked at.

There isn't much worth selling besides what I'm taking/need. The engine smokes like you wouldn't beleive(oil) & has a massive water pump leak - 190,000 miles. The clutch is toasted, not sure if the trans is any good.

I am considering taking the rear disc brakes to swap on my car depending how many bolts are frozen on the crx.

If anybody needs any pieces please let me know.

Re: CRX front bumper on a Civic?

If your not going to use the discs Id be interested. I would want the whole arm so I can use a rear sway bar.

Re: CRX front bumper on a Civic?

If the CRX has a black dash, Tony needs it...

The gauge panel, Frodo needs that. :P

I could deal w/ the back seat, if it has it in there, most don't, coilovers, if they're something aftermarket, I need some for my go-kart... (yes it uses honda Civic struts and coilovers.) can't think of much else, unless it has alloy wheels, but even then, I wouldn't be able to afford shipping, so forget that idea. if it was a sedan, I could use most of the front end... but I don't have that style CRX anymore. (I do, I'm still debating on replacing the rear 1/4's or just junking it and starting over)

Back seat? In a USDM crx? Are you high?

Anyway, the crx bumper swap is a pain. The corner lights are different, hense the fenders will not work. And you can't just swap on the crx fenders to the civic, because they are different at the point right behind the front tire. To do it right you have to cut the civic fenders in half and use the rear part, then do the same with the crx fenders and use the front part, then put them together. The hood and headlights are the same, thats about it. It's not as easy as it looks.

Re: CRX front bumper on a Civic?

I will try the bumper on tomorrow & let you know how it works.

No back seat.

The dash is black, but I'm not removing that it's junk.

It's 100% stock
guage cluster has a buyer

Re: CRX front bumper on a Civic?

@ hybrid, I never said they came w/ it, I just asked if it had one... ya know some ppl are on crack enough to tink that "JDM" eBay rear seats in a CRX are actually worth it to have, and they're mostly plastic, so they're lighter than my back seat is... but I think I'm going to use the prelude back seat, so it still has trunk access, and I"ll just gut everything out of it, I don't care if it's comfy, just as long as it looks OK... and the front seats are (now) from a prelude, and they look great, and feel better, so I'll just use the same color rear seat, which is pretty much a drop-in.
