Blinking Check Engine Light

I am the owner of a 1996 Chevrolet Beretta, V6 3.1L with about 156,000 miles on it. This past summer the check engine light came on. I took it to a dealer and they said the check engine light was a fuel injector ($600 to fix). We didn't have the money to fix it and the car was running fine, even though the check engine light remained on. It only seemed to act up when the air temperature outside was in the high 90's. Today, the air temp outside was near 15 degrees. My wife started the car up and lets it run for a bit, then the check engine light starts flashing so she turns the car off. The second time she tries to start it, it takes a while for it to start. Is this still the fuel injector issue? or do I have a new problem?

you probly has a misfire in one of your cylinder? go to a salvage yard and change them out to see-what is the code-i had a 3.1l and that what it was!i had it checked at autozone for free

If the dealer did not clear the code the computer will store it for a long long time. As recommended though get the car to Autozone or Advance for a FREE computer scan. Get the codes it shows and reply back here. Might be something simple to fix.

A blinking check engine light is telling you the engine is missing when it is blinking.
A steady light is telling you have a code.

As said get the code and go from there.
If the code points to a certain cylinder miss fire or miss or injector .
Work on that cylinder first.
Check for good spark plug and good spark to it and compression.
Watch the spark plug for wetness.
If dry plug and cylinder is missing it points to injector or no fuel to that cylinder.
If wet it points to plug or plug wire or no spark or compression.
If that is good check for good injector pulse and good wiring and plugin to that injector.
If all of that is good replace the injector.
If money is low you can replace just the one bad injector.

not a thing... but it takes time to repost what i have already done.... and if he clicks our site, he will not only be redirected to a 16+ year vet Beretta owner, but a member who has been a.s.e. certified (continusly) for more then 15 years... and yes, i once owned a 2500 series scanner but that is so outdated its not funny.... I have nothing but respect for this site, btw... it DOES help alot of people...
