Unhappy problem help!!

i have a 1998 firebird 3.8. I was driving yesterday and it started jumping and shaking while the service light came on. I got it checked out at the local autozone and was told it was the wires or plugs, something wasnt firing right. So this morning i changed the plugs and wires (thats a tough job on these cars). and took it out. At first it was running great, better than when i got it a few months ago. All of the sudden it started doing the same thing. i took it home and checked the distributor coils, and the last coil wasnt firning, so i replaced it. the last coil still isint firing and its brand new and im all outta ideas. any one with any help please? just in case my car has 94,500 miles on it if this information is needed. thanks alot.

Re: problem help!!

did you changed the three packs???? if not do so, its usually the best way to go instead of changing one. Its like changing your headlights, better change both since you are already there and start with a new set because days later the other one will go off. As the matter of fact, I got a 2000 3.8 bird, change the plugs and wires and nothing, until I checked for a spark and cyl. 5 was not firing, changed it and like new but I only did one and now the others I think are acting up. good luck, oh by the way my car has 156,xxx and still runs like a champ.

Re: problem help!!

i changed the last one, the one farthers from the front because it wasnt firing to either of the plugs that were connected. when i changed it it made no difference it still wasnt firing. the other 2 were working fine so i dont wanna change them at the moment due to fact that i dont know how much money it will cost to fix the problem, and im strapped for cash. Still not getting any fire to the back 2 plugs and not sure where to go from here.

Re: problem help!!

here`s a silly thought . Did you swap the new one with one of the others to verify that it is in fact working and not a dud

Re: problem help!!

Nota a silly thought at all, should have tried that initially to save the cost of the first coil.
