Swap Advice

A buddy of mine works with a kid that is selling a 1.8 liter V-TEC GSR motor out of a 90 Integra. He wants $1000 for it and for $300 he will throw in "turbo and extras". This is all the info I have on it so far. So that would be a B18-(?)? Do you guys think that is a fair price or what?

there is no integra from 1990 with a 1.8liter vtec motor. if i were you it doesnt matter how much of a good deal it is i wouldnt buy anything from that idiot. any person who know something about hondas should know that there are no vtec 1.8's from the second gen integra. good luck

It could have been swapped INTO the car, but if its VTEC its the B18c and well, they didnt come in those cars. So he either swapped it in, or is selling you a NON VTEC motor and thinks you are an idiot...

Ha I spent over 5 times that much for about the same thing. Maybe I got ripped or maybe the truth is this guy is trying to screw you. You would have to be nuts to buy a wrench from that guy...

Haha, shows how much I know. I didn't get a chance to go look at it yet, but my freind wrote the info down, and maybe he got something wrong. I wasn't too hot on this thing anyway due to the fact that it's so old (probly alot of miles). Also, if I swap I want to turbo it, and from what I hear V-TEC and turbos don't mix. Just wondering what would one expect to pay for a:

B18
B16
H22

where you gettin your info from man? vtec and turbos got together just fine. but if your goin to turbo the motor i suggest staying away from either of the type r motors because of the high compression from the factory. if youre not changing the pistons right away then go with a b18c or b16a to turbocharge. but i will tell you also that the rods on the b18 vtec or not are stronger than the b16 rods. make your choice. b18c is probably like 3500 for complete swap. b16a is about 2000 for complete swap. h22 will run you about 3000 for the parts but install would be harder and cost more. someone correct my prices if im wrong
