Hey I was wondering if any of you guys smoked your hedlights on your models and what type of paint did you use? I saw a Blue RSX a few days ago on here that looked smoked. Thanks

Theres a paint for Tamiya that is Smoke Black, but i havnt used it yet, some people say it doesnt work, If i want my head lighrs smoked i just paint my head light housing Black, it looks better than smoked lenses, my opinion.

I know my friend got a can of "window tinting spray." He used it on a viper, but it pretty much turned the windows black. I am not sure who makes the spray, but you might wanna give it a try.

Testors/model masters makes window tint spray. Haven't used it, but I think that's what supercar was referring to.

Tamiya X-19 smoke works if you add a little X-18 Semi-Gloss Black to it and airbrush it. The side windows on this Toyota 84C racecar were done this way.

What I tend to do is to use Tamiya X-19 Smoke and thin it using Tamiya thinner, until it is like water. This way you can apply it and it will run into the recesses. Just add more coats, after each one dries, until you achieve the level of tint you want.
After the smoke tint has dried, you can add your lense colour, i.e. Tamiya X-27 / 28 (clear orange or red). Remeber, don't touch the coats until they have dried thoroughly as I have found that Tamiya paints get to a 'sticky/tacky' stage before they dry. |

I've also heard of people adding a drop of india ink to future floor polish and spraying it.

Another method used is adding a few drops to Testor's GlossCote and airbrushing it on. Do not use Window Tint Spray for real windows as it may craze or attack the plastic(it's made for glass)
