need a clutch,,,go to nissan or infiniti

here's the problem, i have a 00 g20t with a 5 speed, i need a clutch bad. i drive the car like i'm mad at it and let me tell u the g's can take some serious abuse but anyway it's a lease and the warranty obviously doesn't cover wear and tear or overzealous driving. Do u think that if i buy the clutch from nissan (sentra se) it would be cheaper. i only have a couple of months left on the lease so i'm not going to invest in a high po clutch. My second question is do the 99 g's and the 00 g's have the same clutch;or for that matter does the sentra have the same clutch. i figured it might be diffrent since the g has 300 more pounds to lug around.i know infiniti fiddled with the trans a little bit for 00. i don't want t have the same problem i did with the intake (same model diffrent year and part number)

if you only have a couple of months left you have a couple of choices (the way i see it):

1. if you're going to keep the car after the lease, spend the extra dough and buy a nice aftermarket clutch. i don't know any good brands as i have an auto (i know, boo).

2. if you're not going to buy the car when the lease ends- just keep driving like you do, and let the next guy deal with it. he'll get a warranty so you don't have to feel bad about giving the new owner a shitty clutched car. i know this probably isn't ethical, but the way i see it if he buys a formerly leased car, they're probably going to give him a warranty, so he won't have to pay for your driving habits. the only person that loses is infiniti, but hey, they have lots of money

I don't know about the P11 vs the B15, but I would suspect they are the same clutch.

I know for certain that the B13/P10 clutch is exactly the same. I have the fiche for both cars and have verified this. In reality, I think the clutch is designed for the P series and the B series just benefits by being lighter. I suspect the same would hold true for the B15/P11, but I cannot confirm that.

You have to careful when buying an aftermarket clutch kit due to the fact it could become a bitch to drive as the Primeras use a cable clutch, and if you have a H/D pressure plate you ain't gonna want to drive it long distances. Also the clutch plate must have some give in the centre as solid plate clutch plates with the metallic pads can damage the input shaft.
If you buy a standard Daikin or Valeo clutch (I think thats it) they are 30% better than factory and should see you right for less money.
The last clutch kit I bought cost me $140 NZ hehe less than $70 US.

The only good thing about genuine clutches is that it is guaranteed they will fit, sometimes models vary and you can end up with a kit that is slightly different ie bearing or the plate and when you are doing the change on a day when the shop is closed you may have a bad day this has happened to me twice! The next time I'll pay to have it done... let someone else stress.

Actually, the North American P11 has a hydraulic clutch IIRC.

Actually, they are the two OEM suppliers to Nissan for clutches. I don't think they are available in the aftermarket in The States.

For folks in The States, there are really only two clutches to consider....

JWT and ACT. They have similar clamping power, but the JWT has a lighter than stock pedal effort and the ACT is slightly heavier than stock.

Here in The States we've had nothing but trouble with any other aftermarket clutch. They all seem to pretty much explode for a plethora of reasons after not too many miles (usually less than 20k).

I didn't know they had a hydraulic clutch, my skyline did and I much prefered it to my cable clutch however the cable gives a bit more feel.
I believe that Valeo clutches are american from what I have heard and they are quite good.

When i got my clutch kit and removed the old i dicovered the bearing and the plate were different and i was 2 hours drive from the supplier! With no car ! What a bitch, my mates had to drive the correct parts to me.

Still event a H/d clutch is a real bitch to get off the line with unless you drop it, its either in or it is out no inbetween.
