Molding Painting

Well thanks Goth for leading the way.
I did not use Heculiner. I used the same flat paint that I did the hood with.
I hope that it sticks

Part 2 is done, now I just have to do the rocker panels and then the front and rear bumpers.

Here are some pics:

Not the ARB, but the grey molding behind.
I like the ARB the way that it is.
I just hate the grey and yellow.

I did the same thing...

I used Bumper paint. Satin finish (not that the plastic is really going to be "satin".

I've not gotten to the center piece of the rear bumper, the cowl under the windshield, nor the grille.

But here's a question... when do you stop? The latch for the rear hatch is gray, too. But the handles on the doors are not (at least that I can tell). And then do you do the rack? Or is it close enough to black?

I had wanted to do it for a while. I saw Gothamist's, and I personally don't care for the texture of the herculiner (though it is MUCH blacker than the black I used).

I'm going to do the grille, rear bumper and rocker panels.
The rest is fine with me for now (well maybe that rear handle did not notice it before )

What cowl under the windshield?
Mine is black.

How is your paint holding up?
I was going to do the Heculiner but could not find it in any stores so just went with the simple stuff. If this does not work out then I will look more and getting some Heculiner.

The cowl - the plastic where the windshield wipers mount. Mine is gray.

Paint is holding up...well...as well as 3 week old paint can hold up.

Did you take the moldings off when you painted? I did and I couldn't believe how much mud I had missed in the past. I took a screwdriver and just banged around under the lip - TONS came out.

Yes I took the molding off (much easier).

I do a pretty good job with the power washer but there still was a bunch of mud (well more dirt) under them.

Did you paint your rocker panels?
If you did how far up did you paint?

Nah, I didn't bother with the rockers. Not really going to show on a green truck. Though I *do* need to put some paint on some scratches down there.

Truck is looking good.... I just started painting my front offroad lights. While my truck was sitting at the dealer for 3 months they rusted pretty bad. I decided to paint them yellow to match my covers. Just put the last coat on them and then I'm going to spray a couple coats of clear laquar to seal them. The dealer also blew all 4 bulbs so I'm going to pick those up today too. The only thing I'm worried about is how hot the lights get and if the paint will hold up. They're not used very often so I should be OK. I've used them once for any length of time. I was the lead rig on a night run.

Rednec-
There are some high heat paints that you could use (not sure if they have yellow).

Philo-

I'm a sticker junkie
