Tamiya Testarossa

Since Ferrari's are so popular this week, I cleaned up this oldie-Tamiya's Testarossa. This is the only pic I have at the moment, my camera batteries are recharging...need 'em for a model show that starts tonight.

I built this kit when it came out, I guess about 12-14 years ago. I got best paint and first place trophies for it, but honestly it wouldn't get anything these days at model show, much less a second look. It still looks good to me, and it proves my skills (and Tamiya's) have improved by a huge margin in that time period.

Paint is Model Master Classic Black, interior is two-tone brown and tan. Built box-stock. I'll take a rear shot and engine shot later.

Great work. One of my favorite cars also. Like your choice of color.

Thumbs up Thanks...more pics now...

Here are a few more pics:

Engine detail is good, but I brush painted everything so it's really not indicative of how good it could look done properly.

Oh, the exhausts are not stock-the original ones were lost, these I just added to see if I like them. I'd rather have quads.

Very cool, Bob! :sun:

Any chance you can take a peek into the intrior for us? :frog:

And did you alter the colors in the engine shot? The red on the intake plenums looks red, but the heads look pink, and there looks like a shade of dark red in the black paint.

Looks absolutely great! One of my TR-s will be black.

Did you use anything specialt for the "Ferrari" lettering on the engine cover or did you just paint the raised letters? A pic of that would be really appreciated!

Awesome, but loose these exhaust tips. They look outrageous on TR.

I painted it, and didn't do a great job of it either. I recently got a decal sheet full of Ferrari emblems and shields, so I can make this one look better. I'm going to add fender shields to my F355 now.

Hard to photograph the interior, and it's glued together

I don't know what happened w/the engine colors, I did what I could do to make the weird look of the valve cover go away. The color on the fender is really a reflection of my hand, holding the engine cover open. The engine colors are correct on the model at least!
