Question WRX Sti in America?

Does anyone have any information on the Sti version of the WRX coming to the states anytime soon? I'm searching to buy a new car, and the WRX was one of the first cars to come to mind. I was hoping to get the Sti version if it was available in America. Does anyone have any dates or info on it?

Just about all of the information that is available can be found here: http://www.imprezawrxsti.com/faq.htm
Specifically you'll want to check the FAQ and also the Forums under STi-Anonymous. Keep in mind that none of the information is official, it's all just speculation. It is however, very well thought out and informed speculation.

The word I got from my dealer was that it is due at the end of this year, beginning of 2003 (i.e. November 2002 - March 2003) for 30k

So I know that the STi is a 6 speed right?

OK. Now I have a question that is deemed wierd by most of you guys but I'm only 15, and an auto obsessive.

So normally the 5 speeds are lined up like this (lets say on the shift knob):

1``3``5
|---n---|
2``4``R

And I think a 6 speed is like this:

1``3``5
|---n---|
2``4``6

But then where is the reverse? Is it on a button or could it be in another slot like this:

1``3``5``R
|---n---|---|
2``4``6

So if anyone knows thank you.

I spoke to a Scobby rep over the weekend at the Long Beach SEMA show.He said the STI was coing in Sept 03 as an 04 model,261 hp,about $35k,but only 750 units. You know the dealers will jack that number at least $5k!Guess i'll have to check out the Evo when it comes out in Jan.

I dunno if you can trust what anyone says till it actually gets here, cause I heard under 30K for the STi to compete with the EVO. Whats pisses me off is that its the 260HP UK spec version instead of the 280. Course its probably gonna have cats and stuff on it like the WRX, meaning new piping will probably make up the difference. Still if its over 30K I'm gonna be pissed.

:-/ my dealer said June of '04. Don't know what the deal is. I'm going to trade mine for an STi most likely... but might have to wait a year to see if they make any changes from the first model, let the market cool a bit too.
