Braided cable?

I was wondering, do any manufacturers produce braided metal cable? What I'm referring to look somewhat like shoelaces and are silver. These would be used around the engine area.

If you can find an electronics supplier get some miniature shielded co-axial cable, if it is insulated you will have to strip off the insulation. The braided metal shielding on the cable looks exactly like braided hoses used on cars.

Exactly what I was thinking, however, I feel that this is too large for 1/24 scale.

Detail Master makes a ton of different braided cable and compression fittings to go along with them..

They are a little spendy, but are worth it if you want to really give your engine that 'wow'.

(this isn't my work)

Thanks! I realized detail master also makes incredible drilled brake discs and calipers. Great stuff, a bit pricey though.

All the wire people like Detail Master sells is available from a good electronics suppliers at a far better price. As an example I got 30ga wire for sparkplug wires for 6 dollars US for a 100 ft. roll. These guys are buying in bulk , repackaging and selling it to you at a couple dollars a foot.

Yeah, the wire itself can be purchased dirt cheap.. but you need to spend some time finding it.. it took me a solid week of calling around, and being redirected to various places before I finally found a place where i could buy some wire I was looking for..

The compression fittings on the other hand, are pretty much a detail master exclusive.. they are each milled out of aluminum.. so i can understand why they are spendy.. I wish i could make them myself.
