For the last month or two first thing in the morning my car would turn over but not start. you could tell it was trying to "catch" but it wouldnt . After we pressed on the gas pedal and pump it it would finally start up and I wouldnt have any more problems the rest of the day. This didnt happen every day. This morning (34 degree weather) it turns over but you can tell its not trying to "catch" . It won't start. I replaced the fuel pump relay last week but that apparently wasnt the problem.
I appreciate any help Thank You another question Last time I had it in the shop the check engine light stays on and still is on. camsensor was replaced. the only thing the mechanic could comeup with is that the magnet was either cracked or missing .I didnt have it fixed . will the car run without this magnet? Thanks again

Re: Hi i'm new. I have a 92 buick PA that will turn over but not start.
If the magnet is missing or damaged, the injector timing has one chance in six, of firing in time with the intake valve opening. What this means is, the engine will start & run, but may stumble upon acceleration and as MAX said; "it will make it harder to start".
In addition to the magnet, you may have a bad Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS). When the engine is cold, it needs more fuel to operate correctly, and if it is cold enough, it will inject a large quantity of fuel to start the car. This function is called; Cold Start Enrichment and replaces the function of a choke. The ECM supplies the sensor +5V and measures the voltage drop through the thermosistor to determine temperature. Have your mechanic scan the CTS (engine temp) after the car has been sitting overnight and see what the ECM temperature reading is showing. Of course the CTS can also be checked by measuring resistance across the CTS, or voltage with the ignition switch ON. Your mechanic should know all the procedures.
